Local and Global Components

There are two levels at which you can add components to a Studio project:

Project-level (global) components, whether stored in a global container project item or the Global tab of an Automation Component tray, are available to all automations in a project via Object Explorer.

Automation-level components are stored only on the Local tab of an Automation Component tray and are visible only to the automation to which they belong. That is, to see in Object Explorer those reusable components available for use only in a specific automation – those stored on the Local tab of the automation – the automation must be open. If the automation is not open, the Local reusable components are hidden from view in Object Explorer.

Determining whether a component should have local or global scope depends on whether other automations require access to the component. Making a component Local prevents other automations from using it.
